Terms of use
Short, because there isn't much to say.
Acceptable use
Don't use BarLink to shorten links to:
- Malware, phishing pages, or anything designed to deceive people into giving up credentials
- Content that is illegal where it is hosted or where it is read
- Spam, or any bulk unsolicited messaging
- Material that harasses or endangers someone
Disguising a destination is the entire function of a link shortener, which is exactly why it gets abused. Links that break these rules will be removed without notice.
No warranty on permanence
BarLink is provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime or of a link continuing to resolve. Don't use it as the only route to something that matters — print the real URL alongside the short one where you can.
Removal
We may remove any link, with or without notice, if it breaks the rules above or if a host or registrar requires it.
Anonymous links
A link created without an account has no owner. It cannot be edited, reassigned, or recovered by anyone afterwards. That's by design, not an oversight — but it does mean you should sign in first if you'll ever want to change it.
Liability
BarLink is not responsible for the content of any destination it points to. A short link is not an endorsement, and following one is at your own discretion.
